The author suggests using the Info module or rWInfo module instead.
Displays any tags that have been assigned to the current item.
Note: As of Gallery 3.0.1, item tags are displayed in the Info module's block.
DisplayTags will allow allow site visitors to view any tags that have been assigned to the photo or album they are viewing. It is intended as an interim solution until the Gallery 3 team can write up an official way to view the tags for a photo/video/album.

To install, extract the "displaytags" folder from the zip file into your Gallery 3 modules folder. Afterwards log into your Gallery web site as an administrator and activate the module in the Admin -> Modules menu. Then, navigate to Admin -> Appearance -> Manage sidebar to make the tags viewable.
