Gallery has been around since May, 2000. In that time, we've amassed a large number of users and they've encountered all kinds of problems. So, the odds are good that the problem you're experiencing has happened to somebody else already and we've figured out a solution for it.
Before asking for help, please make sure that you have done the appropriate research. We put lots of information in the various help files... work with us and read them. We get frustrated when people ask for help without reading these files, cause then we wind up answering the same questions over and over again. Don't be that person!
Gallery Documentation This contains all the information you may need, from installing to upgrading to troubleshooting. Checking this is a must!
The next step for getting help is to look for your question on the Frequently Asked Questions page:
There's a large section in the FAQ on troubleshooting Gallery configuration problems.
We provide Gallery support via forums. At the time of this writing there are over 165,000 posts in the forums so the odds are pretty good that if you've got a question, it's already been answered. You can use the search feature to find your answer quickly.
There is also a place for real-time user to user support in #gallery on irc.freenode.net. The IRC channel complements our forums by providing a place for the Gallery community to share ideas, ask questions, and support each other in real-time. Log on today and say hey to your fellow Gallery users. No worries if you're new to IRC, it's similar to AOL, MSN, Yahoo, and other instant messaging services. Visit IRC help to learn the basics, then grab an IRC client or log on with the web-based IRC client at support.gallery2.hu.
If you still require help, or wish to have a professional assist you with your issue, you can always choose to use our paid support option. Here, a Gallery developer can take on your case, to resolve your problem quickly and effectively.
We do our level best to answer each and every request for help that we receive on the forums. Please wait at least a day after posting your question before getting upset about not getting a reply. Even though there are many people in the forums, the person who can answer your question is also reading and answering many other questions and may not have had a chance to get to yours yet. No matter what, please do not send email requests or private messages directly to the Gallery developers. I know, it's tempting to just go right to the source but with upwards of 200,000 Galleries installed in the free world they get a lot of email. You want them to be working on the next release, right?
When you ask a question, please provide as much information as possible about your problem. It helps us to know:
While a lot of problems might seem like bugs in the software, a lot of the time it really isn't. Please post in the forums before filing a bug report. If you are 100% certain that you found a bug, please report it on the G2 bug tracker or G3 bug tracker. Note that before you do so, make sure you search the bug tracker for duplicate bug reports, failing to do so leaves the Gallery team using time on cleaning up the bug tracker rather than improving the software.
