TagFaces Module

Allows existing tags to be assigned to faces in photos.

TagFaces is a module for Gallery 3 which will allow gallery users to assign an existing tag to a region of a photo. That region will then have it's own mouse-over caption (which will be the name of the tag) and will also be a click-able link (which will allow visitors to view other photos with the same tag). TagFaces requires that the Tag module be installed and active in order to function properly.

  • Assign tags to a region of a photo.
  • Make that region click-able so visitors can find similar photos.

This module may be downloaded from the Gallery forums here or from

To install, extract the "tagfaces" folder from the zip file into your Gallery 3 modules folder. Afterwards log into your Gallery web site as an administrator and activate the module in the Admin -> Modules menu. While on the modules menu, you may also install Tags if you haven't already.

After TagFaces has been successfully installed, you will have a "Options->Tag faces" menu for any photos that you have view and edit privileges on. Assign one or more tags to the photo for the people that are in it, then select this option. From here you can use the mouse to select a face (left click in the upper left corner above a face and drag the mouse down to the lower right corner of the face), and check the box next to the tag the face belongs to. Do not check more then one box at a time, as only the first checked tag will be used. Selecting a tag with a face already assigned to it will cause FaceTags to replace the previous face coordinates with the new ones. Afterwards press "Save face" to assign the tag. You may also remove an assigned face from this screen.
