Settled in 1515 and made a capital in 1610, Santa Fe is the oldest capital city in the United States. The town sits at an elevation of 7200 feet above sea level at the foot of the southern tip of the Sangre de Christo mountain range. Known for it's Native American and Spanish history, the area offers many unique cultural and historical museums and landmarks. Many points of interest are within walking distance of Santa Fe's historic plaza.
Temperatures in August range from mid 80s to low 90s (f) with a very low humidity level. The air cools quickly in the evenings.
Although commercial carrier service to Santa Fe recently resumed, you'll likely find that flying to Albuquerque and arranging ground transport to Santa Fe much more economical. The Albuquerque Int'l Sunport is serviced by most major airlines, including American, Delta, Continental, Northwest, Southwest, and US Airways.
Rental cars, shuttles, and the NM Rail Runner Express are all available to move you between The Duke City (ABQ) and The City Different (SF). Several hotels are within walking distance of the NM Rail Runner's downtown Santa Fe stop and airport shuttles will deliver you directly to most major hotels.
Sandia Shuttle Express Telephone: (505) 242-0302 or (888) 775-5696 (toll free) Shuttle between Albuquerque International Sunport and Santa Fe.
Roadrunner Shuttle Services Telephone: (505) 424-3367 Door to door service from ABQ to points & places in Santa Fe.
