Settled in 1515 and made a capital in 1610, Santa Fe is the oldest capital city in the United States. The town sits at an elevation of 7200 feet above sea level at the foot of the southern tip of the Sangre de Christo mountain range. Known for it's Native American and Spanish history, the area offers many unique cultural and historical museums and landmarks. Many points of interest are within walking distance of Santa Fe's historic plaza.
Temperatures in August range from mid 80s to low 90s (f) with a very low humidity level. The air cools quickly in the evenings.
Although commercial carrier service to Santa Fe recently resumed, you'll likely find that flying to Albuquerque and arranging ground transport to Santa Fe much more economical.
